What is a Segway?

Is riding a Segway fun?

Abolutely! And our tours are designed to ensure maximum fun for you on our guided Segway Tours.

How long is each Segway Tour?

The morning Segway Rainforest Discovery Tour takes approximatly 3.5 hours from pick up and return.

The afternoon Segway Sunset and Tapas Boardwalk Tour takes approximatly 3 hours from pick up and return.

Are Segways easy to ride?

Segways are very easy to ride. Most new Segway riders will get the hang of riding their Segway within 5 minutes. Our experienced tour guide will show and teach you how to ride your Segway with a 30 minute training session at the beginning of your tour to ensure you feel comfortable, safe and have a fun time riding your Segway.

Can you cater for guests with limited mobility and disabilities?

While we try our best to cater for everyone wanting to participate in our Segway tours. Due to the nature and accessibility of our Segway Tours, it would be limiting for some people with disabilities and limited mobility. Please contact us. Every enquiry will be considered on a case by case basis.

Is the Segway tour offered in different languages?

The Segway tour will be predominately in English. For learning and safety parts of the tours, information cards in the riders language will be offered.

Do you offer Private, Corporate or Group Bookings?

Yes. We cater to all private, group, corporate and team building events. Please see our Groups page for more information.

What should I wear on the Segway Tour?

You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. However, keep in mind the weather for the day and dress appropriatly. Be mindful of sun exposure, wind or rain. We recommend you wear covered footwear on our Segway Rainforest Discovery Tour. Also be mindful that long loose clothing could have the potential to catch in the Segways wheels so is not recommended.

Do I have to stay with the Tour Guide

Yes. To ensure maximum enjoyment, commentary and safety on your guided Segway tour, you will have to stay in the vicinity of your experienced Segway tour guide.

What optional extras are offered on my Segway Tour?

On our afternoon Segway Sunset and Boardwalk Tour you have the option of staying for extra food and drinks Sorrentos Restaurant (at own cost). Please advise us at time of booking if taking up this option.

What should I bring on my Segway Tour?

We recommend you bring a hat, camera and jacket or raincoat in cold/inclement weather for both tours. Additional Cash should be brought with you for drinks and any extra dinner on the Segway Sunset and Boardwalk Tour.

Can I fall off a Segway?

Yes. While the Segway balances for you, it is still under your control and relies on you to control its direction and speed. It is essential to know the limitations of your riding ability and the Segway and practice your skills accordingly.

Your ability to safely control a Segway will be assessed during the training phase of your activity. If, after an appropriate amount of training and familiarisation time, our guide assesses that you are not safely able to control the Segway, then for your own safety and that of others, you will not be able to take part in further activities. The good news is this has never happened.

Does it matter if it rains?

Our Segway tours are able to operate in rain, as long as it is safe to do so and weather conditions are not cyclonic.

Do you cater to different dietary requirements?

Please advise us of any dietary requirements at time of booking and we will do our best to cater for your requirements.

Do Segways have petrol motors and noisy?

Segways are fully electric and emission free, meaning a low carbon footprint, which is great for the environment. Segways are also almost fully silent. Hence the saying "Gliding on a Segway"

Is their a weight limit to ride on Segways?

There is a recommended minimum weight limit of 45kg to ensure the Segway can register that you are standing on the Segway. There is a maximum weight limit of 117kg.

What are the age limits?

As per Queensland legisislation the minimum legal age is 12 years old. There is no maximum age limit, fitness and health should be taken into account for seniors considering the Segway Tours. 

Riders beween 12 and 18 years old are required to have parental/adult permission and supervision while riding Segways.

Can I participate in the Segway Tours if I am pregnant?

While we would love to take you on our guided Segway Tours, as you can understand, we cannot risk injury to you or your unborn child.

Can you collect me from my accommodation before the tour?

We sure can. We have a courtesy bus pickup and return as part of our Guided Segway Tours.

How fast do Segways go?

Segways can go up to 20 km/hour. Queensland legislation (until recently) required that Segways operate a maximum 12 km/hour. Still fast enough to have fun!

Is food included on the Segway Rainforest Discovery Tour?

Absolutely! We serve freshly baked blueberry muffins, chocolate brownie slices, dried fruit and nuts, apple, water and tea and coffee for you on the Segway Rainforest Discovery Tour.

Do you have the real genuine Segways?

We sure do! We only own and operate the real genuine Segways, invented and made in the USA. This ensures maximum safety, reliability and enjoyment for you on our tours.
